We love Chinese New Year and all the flavours that reminds us these special days spent with family and loved ones. We have been experimenting with some of these flavours in our baking kits, the results were excellent.
Perhaps you may want to try these little tweaks to our baking kits to change them up a bit.
Mandarin Oranges are abundant this time of year. What to do with them all? Grate the zest of a mandarin orange (or two) into your Vanilla Snap Cookie dough. The flavour of the Vanilla Snap changes completely to a fragrant almost Yuzu like biscuit. Delicious, snappy, crunchy sweetie shaped little biscuits.
Nian Gao is traditionally either deep fried with sweet potato or yam in a batter. Sometimes steamed and served with freshly grated coconut. We have put little squares into our white chocolate chunk cookies - served warm, the caramel flavoured nian gao goes gooey and sticky, just as it is meant to be.
Wishing all our lovely customers a very happy, healthy and prosperous year of the dragon. Xin Nian Kuai Le!
